So you want to own a Staffordshire bull terrier or maybe just thinking about it, well thinking about it is probably the best place to start.
In my opinion as the author of this site if you cant afford the vet bills and the insurance including third party liability and microchip which is a must and all responsible dog owners should have this provided for their dog no matter what the breed.
I am totally fed up with the negative publicity these dogs get, with correct training and socialization these dogs make the perfect companion.
I don’t want to see this noble breed being used as the canine equivalent of a baseball bat. The Staffordshire bull terrier is too people orientated to make an efficient personal protection dog. They adore human companionship that’s it full stop.
Breed temperament
From the very beginning of the Staffordshire bull terrier, the modern dog draws its character of indomitable courage, high intelligence, and tenacity.
This coupled with its affection for its friends, and children in particular, its off-duty quietness and trustworthy stability, makes it a foremost all-purpose dog.
It is one of only two breeds named as 'Good with Children' in their breed standard by the UK Kennel Club from over 190 breeds, and the ONLY breed that has 'Totally Reliable' in its breed standard.
